Ndi Wooden Stamp
Handmade African batik wooden stamps, carved by master artisan stamp makers in Accra, Ghana. Each stamp is hand-carved from solid wood and features a traditional Adinkra symbol. Made specifically to withstand hot wax, a craft that takes real knowledge of wood and careful carving, these stamps give a crisp, lasting impression and, cared for properly, will serve you for many years.
How to use: Apply your wax as usual, turning the stamp upside down between uses to protect the carved surface and keep the detail sharp. Some wax residue will remain on the stamp after use. This is normal and does not affect performance.
How to clean: Wood should never be soaked, as it can swell, warp, or crack. Instead, wipe the stamp clean with a soft cotton cloth lightly dampened with oil (baby oil or a food-safe vegetable oil), which lifts wax and residue while conditioning the wood. For deeper grooves, a soft brush helps. Always wipe the stamp dry and let it rest in the shade before storing. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or prolonged water contact.
A note on care: An occasional light coat of oil keeps the wood nourished and prevents drying or cracking over time, the same way these stamps are traditionally conditioned after carving. Store them clean and dry, and they will last through years of printing.
Please note: Every stamp is handmade and completely unique. Even when the same design is replicated, no two stamps look alike. That is the nature of the craft and part of what makes each piece one of a kind. Handle with care and they will last through many uses.
